Must Do Christian Essentials

Baptism

The way you are baptized isn’t as important as your reason for being baptized. Whether you are immersed in water or sprinkled with water doesn’t matter. What matters most is that you believe in Jesus Christ and have sincerely decided to dedicate your life to God through Jesus.

The Bible says“He who believes [in Christ] and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned.”  Gospel of Mark 16:16

The Bible says, “[Apostle] Peter said to them, “Repent [change from your sinful lifestyle], and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”  Acts Of The Apostles 2:38

Take Communion

The Lord’s Supper, or Communion, is meant to be a “remembrance of the Lord’s death and sacrifice on the cross.” Do this often, and make sure you have repented of all sins.

Pray Frequently

The Bible says, “In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”  Apostle Paul, Philippians 4:6-7

The Bible says, ““Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.”  Apostle Matthew, Matthew 6:9-13

Love Demonstrated by Good Deeds

Good deeds demonstrate love. Christians should love one another. Christians who do not do good deeds are spiritually immature. Jesus gave a command that we must love one another.

Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”  Apostle John 13:34-35

There is also a warning to those who DO NOT do good deeds.

Jesus said; “…Come, blessed of my Father [God], inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in. I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me.

Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink? When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you? When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?’

The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.

Then he (King) will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you did not give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; I was a stranger, and you did not take me in; naked, and you did not clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit me.’

Then they will also answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not help you?’

Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”  Apostle Matthew 24:34-46

Share the gospel with those who will listen

The Bible says, “Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.”  Apostle Matthew 28:18-20

Contribute your talents and skills to Christian Fellowship

Whether you attend a large church or a small home Bible study, the goal is to contribute your God-given gifts to help others.

Join in Bible Studies & Learn

Devote yourself to learning what God says in the Bible. It is important to study the Bible with a good teacher who accurately teaches correct Bible doctrine. Understanding what God wants from you will help you grow spiritually. However, be cautious, because some churches teach traditions, doctrines, and practices that are not found anywhere in the Bible.

After the death and resurrection of Jesus, the first-century Christian church did the following:

The Bible says, “They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and prayer.”   Acts Of the Apostles 2:42

Give

Give generously of your time and wealth to others. First priority when giving should be allocated to devout Christians.
