A Good Church Believes and Upholds the Following Doctrine and Behaviors.
-
- The belief that Jesus is the second Person of the Godhead (Trinity) is a core Bible truth. Because He is the second Person of the Trinity, He is God.
- God consists of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Jesus died for the sins of the entire world, meaning all people everywhere must believe in Him and make Jesus their Lord (Boss of their lives) and God.
- A good church teaches that there is only one way to God, and that way is only through Jesus Christ.
- In a good church, leadership does not teach doctrines based on man-made rituals that are not supported by the Bible. Bible teaching is crucial for spiritual growth and maturity.
- The church ministers to people both inside and outside its walls.
- A good church has strong missionary support.
- It actively makes disciples—people who learn theology and practice Bible principles.
- The church welcomes newcomers. It is not exclusive to members only; it reaches out to all who make Jesus their Lord and Savior.
- A good church values everyone regardless of wealth or race.
- It demonstrates love through kindness, patience, generosity, and charity.
- The church prays together and worships God through song, praise, and thanksgiving.
- It teaches that obeying God means loving and honoring Him. A healthy fear of God encourages obedience and faithfulness. Fear of God means respecting Him and His Word in the Bible.
- A good church fosters mutual respect between the pastor and congregation.
- The church works to remove sin from itself. Personal self-examination is key to continually purging sin from individuals and the group. Members should respect others by rejecting sinful living.
- Kindness and patience are vital traits that support personal spiritual growth.
- A good church is generous to the poor, widows, orphans, and others in need.
