Common Sins

Your sins are forgiven when you make Jesus Christ the master and ruler of your life.

Lust / Sexual Immorality

Premarital sex – Adultery – Wanting to have sex with someone other than a God-given spouse.

Jesus said, “But…..I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.” Apostle Matthew, 5:28

Anger / Unforgiveness

Having hatred for anyone for no good reason. This would include hating someone because of race, color, social class, or any other bad reason.

It is not a sin to be angry about an offense against us, but we must be ready to forgive all those who offend us and to repent of their offense against us.

The Bible says, “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Apostle Matthew, 6:14-15

Homosexuality / Lesbians

The Bible says, “Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous [greedy], nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners [swindlers], will inherit the kingdom of God.” Paul the Apostle, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

This Bible verse indicates that there will be no homosexuals in Heaven. Jesus said: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This is the greatest commandment. God’s commandment to love one another does not mean an illicit sexual relationship nor a homosexual relationship. Loving your neighbor as God commands is not sinful. Homosexual relationships are sinful. Homosexuality is evil.

Stealing/ Robbery

The Bible says, “You shall not steal.” Moses, Prophet of God, Exodus 20:15

Lies- Deceit

The Bible says, “Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh [God], but those who do the truth are his delight.” King Solomon, Proverbs 12:22

The Bible says, “Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.” Apostle Paul, Ephesians 4:25

Slander – Evil Speech – Gossip – Abusive Insults

Hatefully calling people insulting names is a sin. Telling bad things about people causes hatred. Gossip and slander will separate the best of friends.

The Bible says, “A perverse man stirs up strife [conflict or quarrel]. A whisperer separates close friends.” King Solomon, Proverbs 16:28

God hates a person who tells lies about another person. God also hates a person who causes a church, a family, or friends to be in conflict. Telling lies about someone is a sin.  Revealing hateful things for no good reason is also a sin.

There is a time and place for proclaiming the truth and exposing any person who destroys unity and creates conflict.

The Bible says, “…, things which Yahweh [God] hates; …a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord [quarrels, arguments, conflict] among brothers.” King Solomon, Proverbs 16:16&19

The Bible says,“…, but now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth.”Paul the Apostle, Colossians 3:8

The Bible says, “The one who goes about slandering others reveals secrets, but the one who is trustworthy conceals a matter.” King Solomon, Proverbs 11:13, NET

Drunkenness – Drug Abuse

The Bible says, “Now the deeds of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s Kingdom.” Paul the Apostle, Galatians 5:19-21

The Bible verse above shows that drunkenness, including drug use, is a sin. Drug users and drunkards will not go to Heaven. Also, check out the Bible verse above for other types of people who will not go to Heaven.

God will forgive sins. Repentance means that you have given up sin and no longer want to continue a sinful life. Repentance is necessary for you to go to Heaven.

Idolatry

Praying to saints and lighting candles to saints, such as the Virgin Mary, Joseph, and other saints, is called idolatry. The sin of idolatry, which is idol worship, is disobedience to the 2nd Commandment.

You must never pray to false gods, light candles, or in any way worship or revere false gods. Prayers to the Virgin Mary or any other saint are sins against God.

The Bible says in the 2nd of the 10 Commandments, “You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me, and showing lovingkindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.” Moses, Prophet of God, Exodus 20:4-6

Worship of False gods – Bad Religions

Allah, the god of Islam, is a false god. Mohammad, the prophet of Allah, was a liar and a false prophet. Allah, the god of Islam, is actually a devil and may be otherwise known as Satan, the Devil, or Lucifer.  Do not worship the devil.

The Hindu gods are false gods. There are many false religions with their own particular gods and minor deities (saints), but there is only one true God, the creator of all things.

Only through Jesus is there an opportunity to have a relationship with the one and only true God, the creator of everything seen and unseen. There is no other way to go to heaven except through Jesus.

Murder – Abortion

Child Abuse – Cruelty

Witchcraft – Sorcery

The foregoing is a short list of common sins. Consult your bible for more sins written in God’s word. The Bible is God’s word, meant to teach us about God and His desires for His people.

The Bible says, “Every Scripture is God-breathed and[a] profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, 17 that each person who belongs to God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” The Apostle Paul, 2 Timothy 3:16-17
